The Purpose the Georgia Black Contstructors Association is

  • To provide a vehicle of support for Black construction professionals.
  • To advocate for the utilization of Black owned and operated construction firms by all sectors, markets, and communities.
  • To provide encouragement, education, and support for Blacks who are interested in careers in the construction industry.

  • Advocacy GBCA has begun efforts to advocate for the inclusion of Black contractors on projects that public sector owned and private sector owned. GBCA has also begun initiatives to monitor governmental and corporate parity programs, frequently known as “minority participation” programs. On behalf of its’ members, GBCA will advocate for parity programs where they are needed, and advocate for retaining needed programs.
  • Contract Opportunities GBCA is has initiated efforts to monitor and advocate for the meaningful inclusion of Black construction firms on;
    • Residential Projects ; including single-family homes, apartment, condos and assisted living facilities
    • Commercial Projects ; including shopping centers and office buildings.
    • Educational Projects ; including primary and secondary schools, academic and residential facilities on college and university campuses.
    • Sports & Entertainment Facilities : including gymnasiums, stadiums, theaters, and studios.
    • SPLOST Projects : including utility projects, streets and highway projects, recreational projects, and others.
  • Monitoring Governmental Regulations While this law was passed with a minimum amount of input from the Black community, GBCA has mad a commitment to monitoring the development of the State requirement for the licensing of construction contractors and advocating for fairness to Black contractors.
  • Professional Development GBCA plans to develop educational classes to prepare Black contractors to qualify for licenses and certifications.

Disclosures: Membership is defined for Georgia Black Constructors Association, the “GBCA” purposes to mean the right to attend and participate in GBCA’s monthly membership network meetings and any other event officially sponsored or organized (“sanctioned”) by GBCA State and/or its local chapters, and its- GBCA officers and directors reserve the right to limit a member’s right to participate for cause, including, but not limited to, unprofessional dress or behavior at any event or function sanctioned by GBCA. GBCA does not expressly or implicitly warrant or guarantee the economic benefit a member may or may not receive by becoming a member, and, furthermore, GBCA does not warrant or guarantee the quantity or availability of discounts to goods and services of members or third party companies. All annual dues are non- refundable and are due and payable on each member’s renewal date. Members assign all rights pertaining to Georgia Black Constructors Association membership to GBCA, except for the right to attend and participate in GBCA’s monthly membership network meetings and any other event officially sponsored or organized by GBCA. Each member is expected to conduct themselves professionally at any and all Georgia Black Constructors Association events and functions. Members are expected to have all licenses and credentials required by law to perform their businesses. GBCA reserves the right to change the meeting dates and times. Membership dues can be increased on an annual basis. GBCA reserves the right to deny membership to anyone at their sole discretion.
